I began by circumstance (children, LOL), raising Cortunix quail last summer. Previously, I have bred and raised exotics, ducks, button quail, and chukar in the bird category. Beginning with brown and jumbo browns, and quickly acquiring Texas A and M; my intention was egg production. The incubation bug hit quickly upon discovering how inexpensive a coolerbator was to assemble. Today, I have three Avery pens separated into jumbo browns (wild color), brown (American color), Texas A and M, a mixed pen of American and wild color tuxedos and Tibetins. I will be adding a flock of silver and a flock of Rosetta's very soon.
As an avid lurker on this site from the beginning, I have officially joined and look forward to the continued advice and tips found within.

---I also raise dwarf rabbits (Dutch, Polish and mini lops) and Khaki Campbell ducks-----

Welcome to BYC! I'm not to far from you about 30 miles south of San Antonio. Where are you getting your silver coturnix from?

First experience with this, but I've ordered eggs and they're being shipped. Wish me luck.:fl

Good luck! I had two different batches of coturnix eggs shipped. First batch 50 eggs 27 live chicks. Second batch 37 eggs shipped- 20 were cracked and I have 13 in lockdown. I ordered the second batch because he had "blondes" in his flock and I wanted some, but not sure if any of these eggs will hatch. They were packed terribly.

Welcome to the Flock! I have some Welsh Harlequin ducks, they are soo fun. Debating on whether or not to get some quail. They look so cute and I hear the egg to feed ratio is really good with quail. Oh, and not to mention that they start laying soooo fast.
