Hello I am a new chickie mommy thanks to TSC. I got 6 chicks on April Fools Day. 3 red sex links, 2 Leghorns (one pullet and one roo Im pretty sure) and a lil banty. Since then a hawk or something snatched one sex link and my lil banty when I came inside for a few minutes. The chicks were about a week old when I got them, so about 4 weeks now. DH has built me a wonderful coop and run that they love. I still let them run around the yard but only when I am sure I won't have to go inside the house for anything. My two reds are named Holly and Honey and my LH are Chip (pretty sure Roo) and Dot Dot. Dot is a sweetheart, she runs to me and is a bit spoiled about going in the coop at night. The others will all walk up the ramp but she waits until I go out to lock up and walks up to me to pick her up and put her inside, silly thing. (Trust me she can and does go up the ramp when she wants in during the day, she just needs to be tucked in I guess.
I LOVE BYC and am so happy I found it when I was researching raising chickens in my backyard.
I am married to a very patient man, he puts up with all my wild ideas. I am the Mother of three young men and we have two boxers (no they aren't what nabbed my chicks), 4 chickens and my "at home" son has a pet snake.
I am excited to be a part of this BYC Family.
