Hello from Tampa Bay. I have had farm yard chickens in the past but on a farm and I am new to the whole backyard urban chicken movement. After wanting to have egg laying hens again I went out this last weekend and bought 3 sex-link hens from a local organic chicken breeder. I know I paid too much but it is a means to a purpose far greater than the cost of the 3 hens. These ladies are young and have just started to lay and their eggs (4 in 2 days) the eggs are brown. They are vocal hens and somewhat bold. So far I have named one Bossy I look forward to this adventure with all the back yard chicken community people.
