So very sorry for your tragic losses. Mareks can live in the soil etc. There are shots for it but, at best they cannot prevent it but, may cause an outbreak to be less severe ????

If starting over it would be best to locate a new coop, run etc. far from the other contaminated one. Eqyptian Faomi's are said to be highly resistant to Marek's.

Somewhere on BYC is a thread - called something like the Big, Mareks thread by Jennifer(can't recall her last name). She lost birds to it and developed some strategies to work around it plus, breeds less likely to develop it.
