Welcome to BYC and what a great introduction.
I love the idea of you carrying a rake so you can scratch along side Lucy. Very cute.
I had a hen, Maggie, who sometimes just wanted to be away from the flock. So I am familiar with the safari routine. That hen could cover quite some distance and there are lots of foxes so I would just trail along after her.
I hope you enjoy our community here. There are lots of folk who can answer any questions you have about your chickens.
