I am so new to this my daughter and I hatched an egg from a friend of ours who has chickens and well out of the four one came out, I have no idea if its a girl or boy and was wondering when the spur shows up. How old are they when it starts to develop? As you can see I am soooo new to this!!!

Hi! You can tell boy and girl when they get a quite a bit older.. (unless they are sex link chickens)
they boys get spurs when they are older.

from Indiana! How old is the chick? If old enough you could post a pic and everyone could give you input on what you might have.

The chick is now almost 4 months old and of course my camera is not working and can't take pics! He or she is a very large chicken with white feathers with dark brown tips and the head is kind of a buff color. Big huge yellow feet!!!

We also have three girl Bantams that we got from my pet chicken. And at this moment we have 14 gerbils, 2 cats, three turtles, 1 dog and 1 fish. We just keep growing and growing and growing!!

I'm just worried that my Samie is a boy!!
