Hello everyone, just introducing ourselves. We are a couple (Seth S. & Victoria L.) soon to be married (yay) that have decided to start our own farm. We got about 5 chickens randomly one day back in the summer of 2021. Two were Cornish cross and three were a Barred rock/Rhode island red mix (Whitney, Houston, and Baby-girl). Unfortunately, we lost the two cornish cross and Baby-girl to our wolf/husky/golden retriever mix dog, Remington, while we were asleep...That was a hard lesson to learn. After that we have since expanded our flock to include a welsummer her name is Peanut, 6 silkies (Hens: Antarctica aka fluffy butts, Obsidian, Citrine, Onyx, Roosters: Steel, and Iron) our biggest rooster Leroy which i cannot identify (not too sure what he is). Very recently Peanut hatched an egg and is now a proud mother, the father is Iron. And Obsidian is sitting on a clutch of 6 eggs, 1 egg is Whitney/Leroys and the remaining 5 are from the various silkies. Plus one that has already hatched it's a pure silkie. We have learned a lot since beginning our adventure and we still have a lot more to learn. Our favorite thing about raising chickens is their personalities and uniqueness. No one chicken is alike, so it makes for an exciting journey. Outside of raising our pets, we do HVAC work mainly. However on our downtime we like a lot of other jobs as well such as; Mechanic work, Demos, Building with wood (Victoria specifically), Roofing, Electrical (Mainly Seth as i cant stand a mess of wires) and really anything life has to throw at us. We almost always work as a pair, and for as much time as we spend around one another, we still work really well together.. for the most part haha.
