Hello everyone!

I'm new to raising chickens and BYC. I live in Kennewick, WA and currently have the following chickens (born 3/1/17):

  • 1 Rhode Island Red (Princess Laya)

  • 2 Barred Rocks (Sherlock & Jet)

  • 1 Red Sex Link (Wilbur)

  • 1 White Leghorn (Frosty)

  • 1 Easter Egger (Arky)

  • 1 Dixie Rainbow (Lepod)

  • 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte (Hens Solo)

  • 5 White Silkies (still unnamed)

Although they mostly have male names (named by my 10 yr. old son as chicks) we're hoping they all turn out to be pullets.

We used to have 2 more (1 Rainbow Dixie & 1 Golden Sex Link) but sadly they turned out to be roosters so we had to re-home them due to city ordinances.

Hi Angela and welcome to BYC. You can share your pics on this forum to find out their respective genders -

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

Welcome!

Beautiful birds! Sorry to hear that you had to rehome your boys.

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
