Hey!
I live in upstate New York. My dream is to go back to the old traditions like weaving, small farming, animal raising, canning, etc. For right now, we don't have the land for that kind of stuff, so we're looking to start small. We are hoping to raise a flock of pet birds that can provide some eggs and good experiences for our kids. I'm having trouble finding a breeder for the kind of chicken I want, though. It seems no one in New York has Nankins. We have about an acre of land that is partially wooded, so they would be free range birds. I'm very excited to have them, I've heard only good things about Nankins and chickens in general. If it is impossible for me to have Nankins, I'd like to get some Faverolles. I hear they're very friendly and sweet, too.
I look forward to meeting you chicken people. If anyone has any info on Nankin breeders in the North East, please send me a message! Thanks.
Ursula
