I have been thinking about getting some chickens for the last three years now. I think I will do it this year....... i think lol. I looked at a few places that sell Chicken Coops and I was like OMG $1000 for that? So I have started making my own, I had a pile of lumber in the back yard so don't know what I will make. So far I have a 3x5 floor and I need to start on the walls. If you think you can help just tell me what I should try or do.

Welcome to BYC.. No need to build something fancy, I certainly didnt. The key is to ensure the inside of their coop is dry at all times. Make sure it's vented as well.
 
thank you all one thing I did want to know is how long do I need my coop up and running before I buy the chicks?
