Hatching
What a great site I am learning so much.
I am new to raising chickens and am exited to get started, I have built a raised coop inside an old 10 x 12 shed that we have,
I framed it out inside to be 4 x 12 leaving me room to keep the feed and other chicken stuff in there and my wife wants to use
some of that area for her flower garden tools and misc stuff also. The run is 8 x 12 with sand in it, and I am also going to
make a chicken tractor for the chickens when they are older to move around the yard.
We are starting out with 7 chicks, 6 hens and 1 rooster. I chose to raise Buff Orpingtons because of there reputation of being
great for first time raiser's and I also wanted a duel purpose breed. This site has been a great asset for learning and I'm sure I
will be returning to it often as the chicks grow older. Thank you to all the people who give words of wisdom to people like me
just starting out in this wonderful world chickens.
