I’m Kathy and I just brought home 7 baby chicks. I’ve not raised chickens before so need lots of help. I’ve got two young boys (11and 13) to help learn how. So far in the three days we’ve had them they’ve been awesome to watch and feed. A bit of observations so far are that one chick has a poopy butt. One seems a bit younger and not as frisky so I’m keeping an eye on her. She seems to be away from the rest of the flock. I’ve started them on a chick starter feed. The feed looks so big I’m concerned my weakling is having a hard time eating.
If the one weaker chick is not thriving do I need to hand feed her?
On the chicken coop front, I’m drawing out plans to convert and repurpose an old wooden jungle gym swing set into a coop and run.
I’d love any feedback on what to look out for, how to help the weakling along and any other advise! Thanks so much!
