Hello. My name is Jenna. I am a stay at home mother of three wonderful children. Benjamin is 6 and in first grade. Christopher is 5 and will start kindergarten in the fall. Alexa (Bug) just turned 4 yesterday!
We got our first chickens in September. We currently have 8 hens and 1 rooster. They are very well loved and spoiled. We purchased our house with 11.76 acres in August and are excited to being out hobby farm this spring. So far, we have a hodgepodge of breeds. We love the variety in egg color and chicken color. I have lloked at BackYardChickens books many times and found this website with the help of a very popular search engine.
I love to garden and can't wait to have a garden again this year. We were unable to have one where we rented last year. I have so many things I want to plant and my kids are getting to ages where they want to help and have been working on a list of their wants for our garden this year.
We are looking at possibly adding a couple of pigs, goats, ducks and meat birds this year. So far, we only have layers. I am also planning on getting more layers as chicks this spring, possibly this week! So I am open to any tips or tricks you have on building my own brooder so I can get things going.
Thank you!
