Hello! I am new. I have 13 chickens ( 2 Roosters- which I was not expecting) and 2 Indian Runner ducks.

First time raising poultry. I made it through ducklings niacin deficiency but now my rooster (Black Australorp) is mounting my ducks. The ducks are running from him and when I went out to shut the coop up tonight the ducks were sleeping in the run. We have predators so I put them all in the coop at night. I also believe one of the Polish chicks I got is also a rooster he does not appear to be dominant. Any way to keep the rooster from mounting the ducks? Or should I rehome if possible? Thanks for the help.
Firstly WELCOME! Personally i would not keep ducks and chickens together as they have very different environmental needs. Chickens need a dry inviroment and ducks a more humid?, moist?, wet even the poop from a duck can cause issues with a chicken ( or so iv been told but someone more knowledgeable my give more detailed advice) as it too tends to be wetter than chicken poop. I know it is more expence , time and space but the health and well-being must come first even if that means rehomeing o or the other

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Sorry you are having troubles in the flock. As stated above, ducks need their own space and should not be kept with chickens for so many different reasons. Good luck with your flock and welcome to ours!
