Hello, I am Very new to Chickens

Do you ever get spring in Maine? WE thought spring would never come to the Midwest but, we are getting temps high enough so the snow quit and we get rain instead.

I hope Spring will come soon. Today its 47 degrees with rain. I still shovel. I am so tired of snow, that I have been shoveling snow banks from plowing, I scatter the snow on bare parts of the lawn so it will melt quicker.

Thanks, I read you thread on DL method for Quail. Great job. I was wondering what do you do with quail? Like, are they a food source, or pets? What keeps them from flying away?

Thank you! They are for eggs first, with meat secondary. They are kept inside my chicken coop in pens of their own. In warmer months, I put them out in a tractor on grass. They're all penned in so can't fly away. Rarely, one will hop out of their pen & onto the chicken coop floor - this happens when the door is open & they're over excited to get to the food I'm holding. They just stand there confused till I pick them up. I don't clip wings.

I admit I do tend to snuggle them & kiss them from time to time - but I try not to do that much in front of DH. >.>

That's cool.
Once when I was building an indoor riding arena (Long time ago), The owner purchased Quail eggs and was trying to hatch them, Reading your post made me wonder what you did with quail. Thanks for the Reply, now I know.
