Welcome Sorry you lost your first flock! I agree on not putting the day old chicks in with the older ones. Integration when they are a bit older using see but don’t touch should be easier and safer

Thank you guys! I have two brooder set up so the hatchlings won't be in a coop with the older chicks until each group is old enough to go without heat. I do like to give my chicks time to run in the yard while supervised. Thank you for your suggestions it has really helped!

WELCOME! Let those babies get old enough to run away. Even when they have been in a side by side pen, seeing each other, the olders can be stinkers. Make sure there are places the youngers can get away from the olders.

I do side by side for at least a week, but two is better. Then let ‘em loose. I typically put babies out by 2-3 weeks without heat, so age isn’t a big factor.
