Thank you, how big should the coop section be?
4 sq ft per bird. The run should be a MINIMUM of 10 sq ft per bird. More is better.
You also should strongly consider a solid roof run that you can walk into. Chickens don't come out to range in something like this.

Correction. The RUN is 4x10. It just makes the minimum size for 4 birds and the coop section is too small. That is why they don't roost in it. You will want to expand the run in the sprin.
Just fair warning, those prefab coops are not well built and don't last long.
I'm told they are laying. Does this mean they are roosting? Do I still need to expand the run in the spring?
