I have always wanted chickens growing up. I'm a vet tech and I just all kinds of animals. My husband and I live in a housing addition, but we decided, well I decided :), to start my childhood dream and I bought a couple chicks just about 4 days ago. They are (some sort of) Porcelain D'uccle Bantam mixes. They are only about a week old but I love them already...just wish I knew if I got hens or roosters...

Anyways, still reading and learning how to handle these guys to make sure they are healthy and safe :)

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. I love your avatar and your chicks are adorable. When I started to college back in the early 70s, I initially planned on major in Veterinary Medicine. I later changed my major (for reasons that are too complex to to state briefly), and ended up majoring in Earth Science instead, but I've always had a love for animals. Thank you guys!! I'm such an animal lover. We have our dogs and cats, and once my husband and I got married he started up a fish tank again and that was cool but I just always wanted chickens. It was a spur of the moment decision and I'm just thrilled to have them. They make me happy. And I'm a reader anyways so I've basically read all there is to read about them by now lol I'm learning a lot. I just love them :)

This one is my favorite. Hoping she turns out to be a she, and a porcelain d'uccle.
