Hi, everybody! I am new to Backyard Chickens AND to chickens in general. Thanks to a whim of two of our teenage granddaughters, Tiara and Annie, we are now the parents to a mixed collection of four chicks. We have 2 Australorps, 1 Barred Rock, and Bantam with fuzzy feet/legs. My husband built a temporary raised coop for them so our 3 Schnauzers cannot get to them. So far, so good. We are 2 weeks into this adventure and the chicks now have wing feathers and are getting little tail feathers. They are so cute! We are now in the process of planning a permanent coop for them. Have found a lot of cool ideas on the internet, but feel a bit overwhelmed by it all. Would love any comments or advice from seasoned chicken farmers.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you will have a cute little flock! Have you checked out the Coops section? https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coops look though the pictures if you find a couple you like, most of them have details on how they were made etc. You could also post in/ check out your state thread for chicken keeping neighbors and where they get their coops or if they know anyone who makes them in the area https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread
And don't forget to check out the BYC Learning Center, lots of good articles on all aspects of chicken keeping you'll find helpful. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Definitely stop by our coops pages for lots of good ideas from our members. Some of them are very easy to follow and even have plans.

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our flock!
