Oh, they’re beautiful! I love the names, too. Mine is Cookie because she looks like cookies & cream.Hi and welcome! I had 2 cuckoo Marans in my flock back when I lived in Maryland…they were super friendly as pullets and became a bit more flighty after they started laying at around 20 weeks. Although they did quickly rise to the top of the pecking order, (one even had to wear bully blinders for a day for pecking my bantams incessant) and either one or the other was always broody…they laid the most beautiful chocolate brown eggs and made the most lovely, flute-like clucking noise that is supposedly exclusive to Marans. We had to rehome all of our birds when we moved to Florida, and the nice people who adopted them said that our Maran named Sparkles actually beat up their rooster
