In the Brooder
Yay, another ratter.
Mine are not fancy like dumbo or rex, just straight forward rattus norviegus.
I breed for colour. I did have one beautiful boy who was ptich black, sired by Coco and and born to Mary. Even his nose and toes were black. His name was Cadbury and he was my favourite, but sadly he passed at just over 2 years of age this december.
Surprisingly, Mary was 3 years this past october and Coco will be 3 next month.
South Africa has its ups and downs, but the majority of the problem stems from the fact that the government provides poor quality of education and health care to the lesser fortunate. Just across the valley from me is an informal settlement. These people are not provided even toilets. The government owns the land and has allowed these people to build shacks there but the streets a riddled with waste matter, and the sad thing is that small children play in it. I have been try for years to get the newspapers involved. Every now and then i get a eager young reporter to do a story, but it gets shut down by the editor.
People live in their fancy houses and are oblivious to the truth. But i rant on and go off topic.
Does this site have a section to submit recipes? I have dozens of teaditional South African recipes to share, mostly relating to chicken. One of them involves shoving a beer can into the bird and cooking it. We call it the beer bird.
Ps. I would never eat ostrich as it is not a kosher bird. I know a lot of south africans eat it, but not for me thanks.
