I think I made my cochin rooster aggressive. I just got this cochin and he wasn't really aggressive he would just act like he might attack but never did. I could hold him with no problem. So I thought I would make him even tamer. So I grabbed him on the ground and gave a few taps on the head thinking that this would make him more tame it did just the opposite. When I place him down he went ballistic then I picked him up again and he kept biting me. Im so mad at myself because this was my fault. I don't how to get him tame again. If I try to pick him up he wants to bite and now im uneasy around this rooster. Please help

great to have you joining the BYC flock

BYC has a really useful learning center, it's free

I have only been raising chickens for a little more then 40
years so my knowledge is a little limited on the subject

Try to catch him in the evening or when it is dark and wrap
him in a towel and just hold him and yes he will be mad at
first but after a few days he should calm down and not that
you know he doesn't like to be tapped on the head don't do
it any more and it is spring time and he is more aggressive
then normal

Dont be scared of him and get you some baby oil rub a little in your hand and let him smell the fumes it will calm him right down then do this everyday for about a week if he doesn't calm down get rid of him hes just destined to be aggressive
