My fiancé and I are buying a house in North Atlanta (DeKalb County, GA) that comes with a chicken coop and two chickens. We have never raised or cared for chickens before, but we are animal rights people and we are really excited to be chicken parents! I will certainly be turning to the BYC community often as of June 4th, which is the day we close on the house and the girls are officially ours. I am very grateful for this site and look forward to chatting with all of you!

Best,

Franceska

Welcome to Backyard chickens. Do you know how old the hens are? They may be past their prime laying years. Visit the Learning Center , the best place to start a chicken education. You may also want to post on your state thread, so you can find any chicken folks living near you.

Hope you will enjoy your new home and new flock. Best of luck to you.

glad you have joined us.

Do visit the learning center to get ready for you new hens.

They look like their former parents did take good care of them.

Whether they are still laying or not, I know you will enjoy taking care of them. They are such interesting creatures and easy to love.

Welcome to BYC, Franceska. Glad you decided join our flock. You are inheriting some gorgeous Cochins. Thanks for posting their pics. :o) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your Cochins.

Welcome to BYC, Franceska! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

I'm glad you have decided to join us! BYC sure is full of helpful info along with friendly members. Good luck with your future flock! Is that them in the photo? They are so cute and fluffy! Cochins are very friendly and affectionate birds. I've always wanted some.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
