(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Not a chicken owner at all.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Zero, unless you count the Rafferty's chicken salad I have in my fridge. I'm more into ducklings.

(3) What breeds do you have?

Again, no chickens, and I don't actually own any ducklings, either. I'm more self-educating than anything else.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

If there was a way to keep ducks/ducklings in my actual home without bringing misery to myself or them, I'd do that and avoid the backyard.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
TV, video games, watching duckling videos.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

One reason I probably never will own ducklings/ducks is that I have a full-time job and "duck-sitters" are hard to come by.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

Googling various stuff about ducklings, I noticed that this site came up a lot, so I finally joined.

Hello and welcome! I put off getting chickens for too long because life is busy with work and two small kids. But then I found out there were automatic coop doors and feeders and waters that hold enough to last for several days. I have found the amount of work to be quite maneagable so far, and I even enjoy it.

I wish I had gotten chickens sooner. I don't know how much more work is involed in duck-care, however. Nor do I know how much travel is required for your work. I think it is admirable to know one's limits. If you know you're not ready for the committment, good for you for being responsible. More people should be like that. And who knows, in the coming months or years, maybe you'll be in a better place to get some ducklings. :)
