Hello fellow chicken lovers.
I am new to raising chickens, we currently have four girls. A Plymouth barred rock, an australorp, a cuckoo blue bar and a delaware chicken. I absolutely love all the info I've read through so far, and learned alot. Our Plymouth and our cuckoo blue bar chicks just started laying!!! Haven't gotten them to lay in the nest boxes yet, but taking notes. Thanks for adding my to your community!

Welcome to the chicken club! There's lots of good info here on the site. You'll be a chicken pro in no time! :jumpy A tip for nesting boxes, leave a fake egg or two (or I sometimes leave a few real eggs) in the box you want them to use. Hens love to steal other hen's nesting spots because they appear safe from predators. You just have to make the new box very appealing!

Welcome! You may want to block them into the chick house where the nesting boxes are until they lay for the day with false eggs in the boxes to see if you can train them to use the boxes. Say let them out a little later in am especially if you know about when you usually see eggs. You can also post a picture of your boxes to see if others have suggestions regarding them. Sometimes if chickens do not like a particular part of the boxes they may not use them. Make sure they can comfortably get in and out. Just a thought. :):welcome
