Hello! New member here

Hello, Clay, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
The darker chick is likely a pullet. Give it a few more weeks.
You've got a decent start on the coop and run but you REALLY should consider ditching the chicken wire and installing 1/2" hardware cloth. The chicken wire will not protect them.
It's also great you are putting a roof over the entire run as that will give them space to enjoy during the winter months.
I would also add a bottom framing member to the run so you can attach a predator apron. And definitely use pressure treated that is rated for ground contact. The rest of the lumber for the run should also be pressure treated. There is a product with copper naphthenate in it that you can paint over the kiln dried lumber to help preserve it.
Thanks for the comment. I have the chicken wire trenched 10" into the ground already around pipes as anchor. I was hesitant on the wire myself and I may upgrade in the future. Neighbors have had chickens for 4 years in a single layer of wire with zero signs of predators, but it only takes one. They actually keep them in a chicken tractor full time that is not 100% flush with the ground. More modifications to come! We will be planting herbs around the perimeter of the run area which should add another few inches of soil depth to the anchor point.
