Hello, I'm a parrot person and 9 days into the chicken world. My chicks are 8 days old in these photos. I don't know their breeds. But what I do know is that once they start laying 4 will lay blue and green eggs, 2 will lay brown and 2 lay white. They sure do eat... I found out they eat can eat the same food my parrots eat. They do know the sound of my voice now and seem to get excited when I go tend to my parrots, they are in the same room. They have doubled in size from when we got them, such a short amount of time. When we got them they were so soft but are now loosing the fuzz and gaining feathers. Never are they quiet except for lights out time. They don't sit still anymore either. I think they are all healthy as they are always moving and are all gaining weight and all are hardy eaters.

I tell people my parrots are multilingual. they speak human, dog, cat, fire alarm, microwave and now they have added chick to their language.

Welcome! I am new to chickens too. I've got 4 that are 5 weeks old, 2 that are 3 weeks weeks old. It's fun to watch as they change and grow so fast.

Enjoy the site. It has so much to offer.

Thank you all for the nice welcomes. They look different every day. I have been grinding up mixed vegg, oatmeal, a few assorted dry fruits and parrot formula. I heat it up a little bit and they LOVE it. They also get scratch that's for chicks. I too believe there is one male in there he has a bald stripe with tiny bumps where that red comb will be. It also stand up as tall as he can and peeps louder and longer than the others.

Make sure to offer up grit when you add other things to their diet other than chick starter. The gizzard needs tiny stones to grind up non water soluble foods. :-)

Quote: Thank you. I never thought of this. They will have it available tomorrow. Is there anything else that needs to be offered? They have tiny tail feathers now. It's funny how attatch someone can become after only a week. Love watching them grow.
