Hello :) new to this forum.

:welcome So sorry for your loss :hit. Your daughter is just to cute . The dog will come back if not dealt with . Either secure your chickens or take out the dog .Sad to lock up chickens for their own safety . Sometimes it's all you can do .Flush the wounds with hydrogen peroxide and apply a wound dressing. Neosporin will do .Good luck :fl

:welcome

Sorry you had a dog attack, they can do so much damage so quickly. I hope your neighbors will do the right thing and contain their dogs and compensate you for the loss.

Your DD is a cutie, looks like she's enjoying the chickens.

Best wishes to you!

Peroxide will burn injured and healthy tissue as well. Please use a saline solution to rinse out the wounds. Then apply Neosporine (No cain) .If you live in a warm area that still has flies out and about, please keep the injured ones inside. Fly strike with the developing maggots will cause much more damage than the initial wounds.

Chickens generally have great recuperative powers IF they are not in shock and avoid
infection. Please check to see if there are puncture wounds, for those I would recommend veterinary assistance.

The injured 3 are still alive this morning :) what can I do to help their wounds?
I found a few articles that may help. Although I know medical care/first aid for people, I’m not all that knowledgeable about chickens, so hopefully others will contribute and give suggestions as well. You might also search here on BYC for first aid articles and threads.
Good luck and let us know how they do!
