Welcome!

I love your username!

We are currently renting so I am not going to take credit for this dumb idea

The previous owner of the house, before it became a rental, decided that it would be a good idea to have a gravel path/moat [fills up with water during torrential rain] around the house:

Anyways, the gals definitely do not like walking on the stones but do walk down the path in the middle.

Also, when we moved in the garden looked like this:

Now it looks like this:

Due to our climate and renting, I have the majority of the plants in pots which helps with water conservation.

As suggested, maybe some walk ways for them and a few potted plants here and there to provide shade.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

I just purchased a nice 10 year old ficus tree which will be professionally installed so I dont kill it. lol. I cant believe how much money Im investing. I love my chickens. Its a win win situation though cus my yard does need help
