Hello everyone! My husband and I recently bought 6 baby chickens, two baby turkeys, and 1 year old rooster. Nothing like getting your feet wet by getting a little of everything. We have just about finished our chicken coop while the babies are sitting under a heat lamp in the garage. I was wanting to also get a couple of ducks but I am curious if all three of these types of birds can live together in one coop? (the rooster is obviously not able to be around the babies). I’ve read a couple of articles and one person said they are fine to live together and another said the complete opposite. I’d like some insight so we can make some adjustments to our fowl structure, if needed. Thank you, all!

Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
If any of the turkeys are toms, they can fight with the rooster.
The rooster will have to be kept out of contact with the pullets until they are around 17 weeks old or until one of them starts to squat for him.
Ducks are very messy with their water and chickens need a very dry well ventilated coop for good health.
It certainly sounds like a very difficult combination to work well in one coop unless the coop is extremely large and partitioned.

I really wouldn't try to keep all three in the same enclosure, there's the potential for too much to go wrong. I think you'd be better off to start with three separate pens for them.

Hello! Welcome to BYC!! Good points by @DobieLover. You may want to research "blackhead" in keeping chickens and turkeys together, as well. I've had all of them at one time, but they did not share a coop or feed. Good luck on your adventure!

Randy Toms and Drake ducks can seriously injure or kill chicken hens trying to breed them. It would be best if they are all kept separate from each other.

I had a drake, 3 ducks, a rooster and 4 hens living in a pen together. The drake and rooster left each other alone. It’s worth trying and if it doesn’t work you can separate them later
