I found BYC on a Facebook post tonight. I live in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia in a small town right below where the Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway meet with my husband, we are retired. My husband does landscape oil painting and he is currently remodeling our bathroom. I watercolor from time to time, and I also knit, crochet, and sew. Lately, I've been making quilts, all sewn and quilted by hand. We lost our grown daughter to leukemia (AML) six and a half years ago. We do not have any other children or grandchildren. We do not have any pets currently, though I'd like to get another house cat and some chickens for our backyard. We have just begun to explore the idea of having our own chickens therefore I am so happy to join BYC as I'm sure we'll learn a lot from everyone in this group, so thank you for allowing me to join!

Welcome Chicken wanglerette,
:welcome
Sorry to hear you had to go through the loss you went through.
And you are right, this is a great community to learn and also for social interactions.
Check out the article section, topics of the week or post your own question in the right forum. Best use a explaining/clear title for questions.

I think adding chickens to your lives as well as to your watercolors and your husband's oil paintings would only enhance your art :D.

Seriously, this is a wonderful community of generous and knowledgeable folks who will be willing to help you in any way possible.

After I lost a loved one, I found a good deal of solace and some real friends in this group. I hope you can do the same.

Welcome to BYC; ask anything, anytime and let us guide you on your chicken adventures! We're happy to have you here!
