Hello there

Thank you all :) I put in the soft white 75 watt incandescent tonight for them. They are peacefully stretched out and sleeping around the edge of the lamp ring in middle of brooder. It's 88 in there and they look very comfy :) no more fried chicken!!

Thank you all

Hi 2babychicks
frow.gif
,
I was sitting in on a discussion on another thread last night and
found another piece of information which explains the overheated
chicks with 250 red lights, The poster was saying the difference between
the 250 red light is they are a heating light and heat the objects
underneath them. But the incandescents heat the general area without
heating up specific objects underneath the glare. So that seems to explain
why the chicks would seem so hot under 250 watt red lights when the
temp is in "projected temp range".
Best,
Karen

Hello there again.. So, Patty and Nugget are growing and are happy. They are 12 weeks.. Any idea if they are hens or Roos? I was told hens when I bought them but something is telling me otherwise...

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. I agree with Mountain Peeps, both Patty and Nugget are pullets. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
