Hello everyone! Glad to be part of this Forum.

My name is Scott, a 50 year-old Electrical Engineer (Power Systems / Electrical Construction), from the same West Coast Town which Mickey Mouse calls Home - in fact, within 2 Miles of that Mouse's House...

I have been trolling the Groups for a few Months now, and even though My Wife and I do not have any Chickens, we do have a Sweet little Hen Duck, named "Peepers".

We got Peepers back on July 15th 2006, when She was about 1 Day old.
I needed to use the Restroom, so I stopped at a Largely known Pet Supply Store, and ran inside - straight towards the R/R.

On the way out, there in an open top fish tank - running back and forth, was Peepers. She had no Water, some mushy food, and a Blanket inside of the tank, which gave her just about enough height to jump out of the tank!

Asked the Manager about the Duckling; Manager said that they were adopting her out to anyone who wished to take her Home...
That was 8 years, and almost 4 Months ago.
She (Peepers) became part of the Family that day back in July, 2006 - and has been a special member ever since.

I am not sure what Breed she is - possibly a Black Sweedish, but I have never seen a Duck like her anywhere before. Smart, loving, and a great "personality".

Below are a couple of Images; maybe someone could identify her Breed. She is not very large - her body is around 11" long by 5" wide, with a total wingspan of 33" - wingtip to wingtip.

Thank you all for reading my post, and for allowing my membership in this Forum!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Peepers is a beautiful duck. I'm a chicken person and don't know much about ducks (although I've had a few), but I have to admit that ducklings are the ultimate in cute. You should post Peepers picture on our duck section at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks, and take advantage of our duck experts there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with Peepers.

You've been given a great link to the duck threads, duck folks should be able to answer your questions. She is a beautiful duck and you must be taking wonderful care of her to have her so long. Sorry I don't personally know much about ducks. Welcome to Backyard chickens - glad you joined the flock.
