Hello and welcome to BYC! We have 2 top bar hives and aquariums. The bees are kept in the chicken yard. What breeds are you considering in creating Clearwater chickens?

araucanas, Hollands, Dorkings, leghorns and/or polish. I keep changing my mind to find the perfect combination for the traits I want. which is a dual purpose breed that has a crest, and lays blue eggs, feather out fast, and are great foragers, there are some other ones and I might be being picky but I want a good breed. I am naming them Clearwater's because that is the region of Idaho I was born in. I love the hives what strains of honey bees do you have?

We captured local swarms so they would do best in our environment.

Cool mine are Carniolan honey bee. What first got me interested was seeing a wild swarm

Swarms are cool, as long as they aren’t your own bees!

Much due respect to the bee keepers!! I will gladly plant all the pollen plants they need but as for keeping, no thanks! My brother in law, who is a jack of all trades, has kept a hive for several years now! Love the fresh honey, and it's really helped our middle son, "bubble boy" with his seasonal allergies!!
