Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. I am happy to report that we were able to get Poppy through her pasty butt, and the issue is largely gone. We washed her vent out about every 3 hours with luke warm saline solution, bc her butt was looking raw and painful, and saline doesn’t sting like water. We moved them to a bigger brooder box so they were better able to move away from the heat, and moved the box to a quieter place in the living room where they weren’t subjected to our obsessive NPR listening. Those things seemed to reduce their stress which in turn reduced the pasty butt. They are just now 3 weeks old and cute as buttons - we call them the poopy peepers. It seems to sum them up perfectly.
