Hello yall im sarah and i have 4 amberlink hens and 4 black Australorp and 1 Ameraucana rooster.

Howdy and welcome here! If the run is safe for him, let him sleep in the run. My rooster Harvey sleeps on a roost in the run with about 5 of his favorite hens every night. Half the run is covered and he stays out all night summer AND winter! He rarely goes into the coop at all. Here's a picture of the roost without the chickens.

You might need to physically put him in at night until he is comfortable sleeping in the coop on his own. Sometimes prowling predators can make them nervous too. Welcome to our community!

My question is my rooster is 4 months old and my Hens are 3 months old and my rooster wont go in the coop on his own at night he stays in the run is it safe for him to stay out all night?

Welcome to BackYardChickens! So glad to have you here in our wonderful community of friendly, helpful, knowledgeable people! He may learn to go inside, or he may not. Read some articles here about predator-proofing your coop and run. If it's safe, he's fine to stay outside. Here is a caution though...chicken wire is NOT safe. Raccoons can reach right through it to grab a bird by the neck and rip of its head. Rats can get through it too, and snakes. Try a buffer zone of hardware cloth.

We had to make some changes we had a couple of snakes get in when they were a little smaller and they ate 3 of my hens they came in the coop I've never had a predator come in the run we have it completely closed in with chicken wire

Thank you so much I did not know that I live on 23 acres in the woods pretty much we have had 3 Hen's taken by snakes so I am going to have my husband add the hardware cloth.
