I am a first time chicken/hen mama
I am slightly knowledgeable about how to raise chickens, learned from friends.
I use the Internet a lot to read about things I do not know.
I luv having my girls. My hens are 3 months old and are not laying eggs yet.
I am worried that they are not happy, and bored. The area I have built their home is dirt. They do occasionally get grass clippings, bugs come into their run and they do have good fresh water and food every day.

Don't worry, depending on your hens' breeds, they might not start laying until another 2-3 more months. For my birds, I give them leaves in the Fall for entertainment. They do like dirt to dust bathe in, but there is ideas out there to give them things to do like toys, perches, and hiding spots.

I have placed three perches, a toy that has a bell (they don't like it) and two hiding spots.
This weekend I'm going to build a small deck, so they don't crowd the coop entrance.

My hens are Rhode Island reds, except one, she is black with a little white, idk what kind she is. She's the one not happy today.
Hard to get pics, lol they don't stand still.
