My name is Gail and I'm just starting my adventure. We plan to get 4 chickens in the spring. Our city allows us to have up to 10 "pet" chickens so I'm learning all I can so we can provide for their health and well being from the beginning. This site will be a great help in this process. I enjoy my being out in our garden during warm weather and some chickens seems like a great addition to our urban garden. When the weather turns colder I'm found inside with some yarn and knitting needles creating things to keep us warm and entertained. I happy to have found you and look forward to learning a lot from all of you.

Hello Gail!
400

Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to joined the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC.

Nice to meet you Gail, Welcome to the Backyard chickens flock. How great that you are allowed 10 chickens. That's a very generous amount. Do they allow roosters?

Hello Gail;

I am a newbie too. I am intending to start a small flock this spring as well. The climate here can be challenging, we are zone 2b - 3. We outside of town and are not limited to a specific number of birds. I have 3 active households to supply. I would be glad of advice on breeds and size of flock. Perhaps 8 - 10 Sussex?
