Hi, I'm new to backyard chickens. I moved to the country a year ago and decided to raise chickens for the eggs and to give my boys something productive to do. I have 3 speckled Sussex that are around 9 or 10 months. I got them when they just started laying well and they did lay about 2-3 eggs every other day. However, about 2 weeks ago, they have not laid one egg. I noticed they started slowing down not long after I got them and put them in their new home. I feed them 22% layer feed and I give them some meal worms from time to time and even given the oyster shells. I've bought fake eggs and placed in their nest about 3 days ago. They all look very good, high energy and very healthy. I let them out during the day to forage. They've never ran out of water. Please help, I'm not sure what to do.

Thank you! If you know any members that may help, could you forward my post to theme? Sorry, I'm just really hoping for some eggs or if I should cut my loses.

Welcome!

I hope you are able to solve the lack of eggs dilemma.

I also hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

How do I share photos on my phone or is it only on a desktop?

Sorry arnault I only have a desktop and have not tried uploading pictures from a phone but I do know that you can do it and I think that there are instructions on BYC somewhere but I can not find them.

Hopefully one of the other greeters will be able to assist.

Welcome to BYC!
I notice you mention allowing them out to forage during the day -- it is entirely possible they have "gone rogue" with regards to their nest choices and are stashing their eggs in a hidden nest (or two or three).....even in yards where you can't imagine them being able to hide a nest they can find a place/way to do so. Have there been any recent changes to their routine or environment or recent stressful event?
