(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I have yet to purchase my first chickens but I'm aiming to get some layer pullets and eventually a rooster to breed my own replacements.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Hehe... 0

(3) What breeds do you have?

None, though I'm very interested in Swedish Flower Hens, Barred Plymouth Rocks and Rhode Island Reds.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

When you're constantly looking up chicken breeds, it's very easy to come across :)

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Reading, writing, stalking chicken related posts... the usual :D

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Labrador retriever and a tabby cat :love

Hey There,

Welcome to Backyard Chickens! It is nice to meet you, thank you for joining. I hope you enjoy the chicken keeping experience as well as have fun experimenting.
Please fill us in on when you receive your flock and begin your new adventure! :)

Have a very nice evening- oh, and, good choices for breeds! I don't want to steer you away from the breeds you'd like... But I would suggest adding a Buff Orpington into that beautiful-future collection. ;)

Sincerely Your New Friend,
-The Angry Hen

That is great! Yes, I have two Buff hens- I once had a rooster of the breed. My first rooster was a Buff! They are really docile and yes, beautiful! :)

I would rate them as the perfect starter breed. :D
