Hello everyone,

I live in Canberra, the Australian capital and I got chooks a couple of months ago for the first time.
So I am still very new to chickens.

I got three girls now about 24 weeks old:
Tomi (Epitome) an Isa Brown,
Des (Iridescence) a black cross (Australorp x New Hampshire),
Raptor (Velociraptor) a white cross (White Leghorn x New Hampshire).
Tomi and Des started laying few weeks ago.
Now waiting for Raptor. She did sqaut for the first time yesterday, so we might be close to it!!

I came across this website while trying to learn some basic and found useful information, so I decided to join the community!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

The Learning Centre is a great resource. Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles to also be a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
