My name is Mayra and I have started the process of educating (reading, web search, visiting farms, etc.) myself in the "art" of raising chickens. I am planning on getting my first chicks after the new year. The bottom line, I welcome your feedback and education. Looking forward to many more interactions with all. Namaste!

The LEARNING CENTER is a great place that has a lot of information on how to start raising chickens, from people just like you, and us!

One of my recommendations is that if you live in the North, colder parts of America, to get your chicks in spring so they will be able to go outside while still young, and have an early start to eating bugs and grass. Many people choose spring or summer to start, especially in cold Wisconsin where I live.

Welcome to the flock!

Thanks for the advice. I live in South Texas ... depending on the year, our winter is not really winter but will take your advice.
