Hello

Hello and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us.

Here’s a link to the Articles section - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/ There you’ll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping chickens - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs.

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

All the best

Hi All,

I have joined as I have recently picked up 12 silkies (7-8 weeks old now) - knowing that I will have a few roosters in the mix. I am hoping to end up with 6-8 hens, time will tell.

I have already had a read through a few threads and found some good information, I look forward to gaining more knowledge and hopefully being able to contribute some knowledge or learning myself eventually.

G’Day from down under Silkie Monster :frow Welcome!

Just in case it was not one of the threads you already found, this is a link to the active Silkie Thread.

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Best wishes for a bright and cheerful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thanks for the welcome. Here's a few pics of the flock, they either like to run around very fast or bury themselves in the bedding so it's hard to get a decent photo.

I guess the unwanted cockerels will have the honour of visiting Valhalla and feasting with Odin and the other brave heroes who have gone before them.

The light grey one is my favourite. Shhh! Don't tell the others.

Hello Silkie Monster! Welcome to BYC!! It’s so nice to have you join us. welcome.gif

Those are fantastic pics of some sweet little Silkies! Love their colours! I have Silkies; both purebred and crosses. My Silkies are some of my toughest birds. They never cease to amaze me. Or make me laugh...lol! I wish you the best with yours.
