I’m very new at chickens. I’ve wanted to have backyard chickens ever since my grandparents brought me to the tractor supply and I got to see the tiny, chirping puffballs. So after many trips to the farm store and tractor supply I’ve gotten 17 chicks (more than my mom and I expected). I have 4 ISA Browns, 4 Barred Rocks, 1 bantam, 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 2 black Australorps, 2 Ameraucanas, and 2 Buff Orpingtons. They are all supposed to be pullets. If not we will still keep the rooster. The youngest being a week and the oldest being 3 weeks. They all live in a spacious brooder and they don’t fight with each other. We have been working on their coop that is located in our shed. We are working on getting electricity in their for the winter so they can lay more eggs and they will have 5 nest boxes eventually. They also have a 13 foot roost and we still are adding another smaller roost for them.

G'Day from down under Paige'sBlueShedFarm :frowWelcome and Congratulations! :clap

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

Your babies are adorable! If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of them, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.
