Hello!

G'Day from down under ginny_e :frow Welcome!

This is a link to the Mama Heating Pad Thread started by Blooie which JoesChooks mentioned.

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out. This one may be of particular interest:
Topic of the week - Brooding and supplementing heat for chicks

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

Got the premier plate thanks all for the suggestion. I am already planning on potentially getting a couple Indian Runner ducklings this summer too to I am sure it will get its use. Everything is mostly set up (feeder, waterer, pine shavings- still need starter food) and I should be getting the chicks near the end of next week. I was going to use a storage tote but worried a little that it is too small. Can I use a cardboard box? I just got a large one from my Chewy order, it seems like it would be a better size.

you can use cardboard boxes. They are not too durable though.

Am going to pick up my chicks tomorrow! Very excited! Anyone have any issues with the premier plate and chicken breeds with poofs on top of their heads? I saw in some reviews that those didn't do as well, I'd like to get one of those but not if the feathers get singed.
