New to the forum. Been lurking for awhile. I'm also new to raising chickens, but I've already learned a lot here; thank you!

Hope I can help others in the future, but I'm sure I'll be reading and 'learning as I go' for awhile first.

I have three chicks, that are about three weeks old, still in their brooder box I built for them using a large plastic bin, some 1x2's, and hardware cloth.

I can't wait until we finally get some seasonably warm weather and I can introduce them to the outdoors.

I am pleased you delurked and hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

As GracieJ mentioned, if you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

I'm now at the point of "c'mom, hasn't winter stuck around too long!"

I'm in Wisconsin, and we just had two huge snow storms this last week. In April!! My husband has plowed snow for multiple customers for over 30 years, and we would typically send out bills on 4/1 every year, since we never get (or should I say, got?) measurable snow falls after that date.

My babies are six weeks old now, and growing fast, but I'm afraid they'll be cold if I allow them outdoors now, since although daytime temps have been in the 50's the last two days, night lows are still below freezing, and most of the ground in still snow covered, since we got 6" of snow twice in the last six days.

I'll have to wait until Sunday, hoping the snow melts tomorrow, and temps in the sun are in the 60's.

I still hate winter!!
