I am new to being a member, though I often come here to find information. We raise goats, chickens, ducks and pigs. We have been raising chickens for the past 40 years, So this years I had this sudden urge to start some turkeys. So any advice I can find will be most helpful. Our biggest problem around here this year is coyotes. They have killed several of my new kids. We have to watch the goats when we turn them out to pasture. Its heartbreaking. Anyway, my daughter-in -law suggested I join. I am looking forward to a long fruitful relationship with this community.

Hello! Once predators find your flock you have to rethink methods to keep your flock alive. I have coyotes and foxes at our farm and don't free range my flock. I know a person who uses donkeys to keep their goats safe from coyotes.

There is a turkey section on here for specific turkey questions. BYC has a sister site, backyard herds. There is a link on the home page to it. There will be lots of tips on protecting the goats from coyotes there
