I got my first chickens in the Spring of 2017. I have 4 white ones (not sure on breed) and 2 Isa Browns. I was given the chicks from a friend who wasn’t able to keep them. They have been excellent layers for the last year.

In the spring of this year I decided to add to the flock and took my chances on 4 Barnevelders from the straight run bin at TSC. They all ended up being roosters. ‍♀️ A predator got two of them and the other two were rehomed last month.

I wasn’t planning on taking my chances again but I could not pass up these darling day old blue-lavender chicks yesterday from the pullet bin. They had just come in from the post office while I was there.

So now I have my original 6 plus 3 Sapphire Gems and 1 Black sex-link making my new total 10.

I have been reading the boards here since getting my flock but since I got these new chick that are a fairly new breed I wanted to add to the discussion thread on here about them.
