(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
-All through my childhood, I enjoyed the company of chickens. Starting at the age of 8, I had more than twenty hens. Wanting my own children to gain a similar connection to nature, I have more recently purchased two chickens. One died of Marek's disease but the other one survived.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
-After our loss, I purchased two hens more and one hatch an egg so now we have a total of four.
(3) What breeds do you have?
-We have one Easter Egger, two olive Eggers, and one French Copper Maran
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
-The therapeutic experience of watching them.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
-I enjoy painting, Mountain Biking, Butterfly Art, writing, and reading.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
-I share a micro-urban farm with my three children and a loving husband. I am working on getting a PsyD. In addition to the hens, we have a Pomeranian puppy and two Brotogeris parrots.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
-I found BYC while looking for answers to help my sick hen. The forums proved very helpful and I found a wealth of knowledge among our members
