Are you keeping 2 separate brooders? Those seem like some tough ages to mix together... your "teenagers" might not be very nice to the little ones, especially when they start reaching sexual maturity in a few weeks. Hope the integration goes well!

I keep finding myself on this site with almost every chicken question I google, so I thought it made sense to join!
I'm a Southern California girl with a super awesome hubby with whom I have 2 kids we're quite fond of: a 12 yr old boy who wants to be a robotics engineer and a spunky 7 yr old girl who wants to be a medical examiner. When I'm not just making sure my kids grow up to be worthwhile human beings who know how to people in their own homes when they're 30 (and not my nonexistent basement), I run my daughter's Girl Scout Troop with my mom, teach cooking to little kids, run a small business, and am trying to learn how to sew, grow, and do more myself. Being self sufficient just feels good!

We just replaced our 1st flock (3 Ameraucanas RIP) with a "coven" of 14:
Hilda - Barred Rock (13 wk pullet)
Raven - Black Australorp (12 wk pullet)
Matilda - Ideal 236 (12 wk pullet)
Tabitha - (chipmunk) Easter Egger (10 wk pullet)
Hermoine - Rhode Island Red (10 wk pullet)
Sabrina - Buff Orpington (10 wk pullet)
Ursula - (black) Easter Egger (10 wk pullet)
Silkie - Blue Bantam Silkie (unknown gender 2 wk old)
unnamed - Black Frizzle Cochin Bantam (unknown gender 2 wk old)
Wednesday - Black Copper Maran (5 day old pullet)
Adalind - Black Star (5 day old pullet)
Sheik - Cuckoo Maran (5 day old pullet)
Zelda - Ameracauna (5 day old pullet)

Constantine - Black Jersey Giant (5 day old pullet)
... literally got the last 5 yesterday and today!

My goal was/is to have all my chickens lay different color eggs so that if one gets eggbound (RIP Ameraucana #1), I'll know who it is. Also, I don't know why we decided they all needed witch names, but they do and so now we have a coven of chickens!

Problem: They told me they think they sold me the wrong bird. Wednesday is not a Black Copper Maran Pullet, it is a straight run bantam of unknown breed. It's way smaller than the rest, it has black legs with yellow toes, no white spot on the top of its head, and it started sprouting feathers on its legs all of a sudden... but she looks just like the pics I see on here of BCM chicks and they don't have the big white spot on their head, either, so I don't know!
